‘Tis the season to be asked 900 times what I want for Christmas and my birthday, so:
Oh, and here are some of the photos from our trip to Fiji. We still don’t have any of the underwater photos developed, but I’m sure those will be really cool. In addition to taking some fantastic trips this summer, I’ve learned that I do not photograph any slimmer in other hemispheres.
So we have some magazines I’m trying to get rid of. We got the forty-year collection from Seth’s dad, then I tried to sell them on eBay (which became a huge, money-losing disaster), and now they’re taking up about 60 square feet of space in the garage and office. If you or someone you know would be interested in the remaining 25 or so years of vintage Playboys, you’ve got until the end of the month to let me know that these are worth saving, otherwise they are going to the recycle bin.
For Christmas, Seth’s Bestefar gave me a couple of Rust-Oleum kits for painting the basment floor. [Many women ask for jewels and expensive perfume; I ask for basement floor paint.] If you’re looking for an easy fix, I really liked this stuff. It’s water-based so it’s a lot easier to use than the oil-based epoxy. The finish isn’t as glossy as the oil-base, but it is a good-looking option nevertheless. I used the color chips to add dimension and traction (and to make it less noticeable when the cats fling granules of litter far and wide), and I think it turned out well. At least it covered up all the gross spots. We’ve got to fix that tacky, useless shower thingy, but then that area will look really nice and enhance the front-loading washer and dryer. Now perhaps the people at Rust-Oleum will thank me for my endorsement by sending me another kit (one will do, in the tan color please) for the garage.
Seth has been goin’ to town updating his Flickr account, not only with our photos from Europe but evidently with every photo he’s ever taken. It’s prompted me to go through some of my old photos. Here are a couple of my favorites from Rachel’s and my trip to Philadelphia in February 2006. Rachel is standing with a sculpture that reminded me of the way her hair usually looks (hence her expression), and I am standing in front of the Liberty Bell on the windiest, coldest day ever in the universe, though in this photo my hair is a lot better than it usually looks. Well, I’m standing as close as we wanted to get to the Liberty Bell, which is now housed in a little glass building surrounded by fences and protected by armed guards who search your person and your bags with x-ray machines and metal detectors before you’re allowed to enter. Ah, Liberty.
I’ve been so lax in updating my weblog. Probably because no one ever reads it, but whatever. Here are some photos of our trip to Europe that Seth has posted on Flickr.
We’re also headed to Fiji in July, so those will be some awesome photos too–at least the sun will shine there. I guess this is the Year of Traveling to Opposite Hemispheres.
Here are the details for the Manson - Northwest Webster Class of 1992 reunion.

There are a couple of maps here and here if you need them.
I’m certain the public is clamoring, so here it is:
- Because I really don’t need anything, I ask again for donations to charities. My favorite is our local humane society, but I also support Heifer International and any organization that serves at-risk populations. Thanks again to Bestefar for the chicks and rabbits he gave me last year. I (heart) them.
- My amazon.com wishlist has some other ideas.
- Some really soft and plush socks for lounging.
- A rain gauge (the stick-in-the-ground type)
- A tape measure (a small one that easily fits in a pocket or apron, but longer than 6′. Maybe 10-12′)
- A candy thermometer with both the temperature and stage markings
- That’s really all I can think of right now. My mom would like a dishwasher, though.
