Holly's Grandma
/We just received word that Holly's grandmother passed away this morning. We don't have any schedules yet about visitation and funeral, but if you're looking for the two of us, and we're not around, that's where we are.

My friend Rachel Nehl now has her own blog.
We're back from San Francisco, but just barely. I'll write up my rant on that later, but let me just say that Delta won't be getting my business in the future, and that Northwest will. Let me also say that Thrifty rental car is not a deal.
Since Missy doesn't have her e-mail address anywhere on her blog so I can e-mail her, this link is for her.
Since my 29th birthday is rapidly approaching, I'm going to take this opportunity to say that I'd like the set of grey rubber floormats from WeatherTech for our 1998 Ford Windstar, as well as their racksack for the luggage rack. If it asks, no, we don't have any entertainment system installed. Also, stuff from my Amazon wishlist, especially the Freaks and Geeks DVD set is appreciated, and there's always the cool stuff on my ThinkGeek wishlist as well.
I paid off my remaining student loan today, about 5 years after I graduated from ISU. Thanks to you, the taxpayers, for floating me that loan. Of course, at the 2.5% interest rate it had been at for the last few years, I really didn't mind paying on it...
I stayed home from work yesterday, since I didn't feel all that great in the morning, which progressed to feeling awful by the afternoon. I made an appointment to see the doctor this morning, and after a chest x-ray in which he saw some "haziness", he thinks I've got pneumonia, but it's going to the Radiologist for confirmation. Great, just great. So, I'm at home on Doxycycline now, where I'll probably remain for the next several days, as the diagnosis pneumonia jives with what I think I've got.
We've named our new cat, here's a picture:
For the record, my wife made that cheesy thing, not me. He's a blotched tabby that we got from the Humane Society.
He's in that awkward kitten phase where his limbs are longer than he is, and he's also aggressively affectionate. He purrs for hours on end and can't stand to not be in physical contact with a human for more than 30 seconds. That sounds great, but at night the only thing exposed is your head and he wants to lick you and nuzzle you with his wet nose, it's not endearing.
We've got a new cat, picked up today from the Cedar Bend Humane Society. No name or pictures yet, but stay tuned...
I had my annual review yesterday, and I'm no longer a "probationary" employee. My status is now "continuing service", which really doesn't mean a whole lot, other than that if my position was eliminated, and there was an identical position open elsewhere on campus (there isn't) I'd have some right to go after it. Or something. In any case, now the real screwing around can begin... :)
