New policy
/Someone needs to set a University policy prohibiting 8:00 a.m. meetings. My brain doesn't function well enough at that hour to risk exposing other people to what I might say.

Thanks to everyone who contributed money towards my fundraiser for the MMRF, together, our team raised over $3000 to help find a cure. And rest assured that your money went to a good cause, the MMRF has a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, the research grant program has received approval from the National Cancer Institute, and it meets the Wise Giving Alliance standard set by the Better Business Bureau. Even though it rained all week prior to the event, Sunday morning was spectacular in St. Paul, cool and clear, perfect weather for a 5K hike around Lake Phalen. I think the organizers were a bit overwhelmed, this was only the second year that they've held the event, and they ran out of some things, like the T-Shirts for participants. I think they had more same-day registrations than they were expecting, and there was a much bigger crowd than we were expecting. My dad, and the other "patients" were given teal green shirts and race numbers to wear, so that everyone else could cheer them on.
Thanks again to everyone, and hopefully next year more of you can join us in St. Paul, or participate in one of the other Races for Research being held in the following cities:
San Francisco, CA Boston, MA Cleveland, OH New Canaan, CT Seattle, WA Philadelphia, PA Atlanta, GA Washington, DC Chicago, IL Phoenix, AZ
My wife Holly is also running to raise money for Multiple Myeloma research, so if you'd rather sponsor her than me, or better yet, her in addition to me, drop some coins in her bucket.
On September 24, I'm walking in the Multiple Myeloma Race for Research in St. Paul, Minnesota, to help raise money to search for a cure for MM. As many (most?) of the people who read this know, my dad was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, an incurable cancer of the plasma cell, back in March, so this cause has suddenly become near and dear to my heart.
Any support, in any amount, you can donate to the MMRF by sponsoring me, or those who are going to join our fundraising team (hurry up and register, guys, so I can link to you!) will be GREATLY appreciated by me and my family.
My fundraising page is here. The team fundraising page is here.
If you're in or near the Twin Cities, and would like to join our team, just shoot me a message and I'll send you an invitation to the team.
My Great Uncle Art Hoeft's farm/estate sale is Saturday (which also happens to be my 30th birthday). If you're into collecting old tractors or buggies, check it out, there are a lot of pictures on the sale bill.
My friend Adam Turnbull (an Omaha police officer) can be seen going into the courthouse in this news story video. He's the bald white officer.
I may actually have some time to do a bit of blogging now, I'm getting pretty caught up in my work, for the first time in over a month. I've been hip-deep in wireless gear, trying to decide which system we'll start migrating towards here at work, before a renovated building comes online this spring. I need to write a little bit about my Xbox 360 (yes, I have one) and my Intel-based iMac (yep, one of those too) as they're both exciting new pieces of technology. But I'll get to that after I clean my office...
My co-worker Aaron is back at work, following his LASIK ordeal last week. He's still viewing the world through milky corneas, but at least he can view the world...
For anyone who uses MySpace, I'm now a member.
Oh, my wife Holly has a blog here, by the way.
