Cross-Eyed Mare
/Everyday, Al posts some song lyrics on his weblog, which always reminds me of some song I should download on Napster. While I won't blatantly copy him, I will now post some misheard song lyrics, which I dig up over at KissThisGuy.com. Don't check that site out unless you want to start giggling... Misheard Song of the Day: You Oughta Know by Alanis Morissette
The real lyrics were: The cross I bear that you gave to me
But I misheard them as: The cross-eyed mare that you gave to me
The embarrassing moment of revelation: I had been singing it in the cafeteria, when the table behind me and my friends started laughing. Now my nickname is Cross-Eyed Mare
I got enough points for a copy of The Sims from the PepsiStuff contest. J Dylan and I swallowed our pride Friday, and went hunting for bottlecaps in trash cans. We didn't find any in three different buildings, then I found the Holy Grail. In Maucker Union, there's a recycle tub for pop cans and bottles. In most buildings, these are locked because Iowa has a 5-cent deposit on cans and bottles. In the union, this tub wasn't locked, so I hoisted the top off it, and dug in the sticky sweet goo up to my elbows. Five minutes later, I emerged with twenty-one yellow bottlecaps, I only needed 17. I washed up and hurried home, and started punching in the codes. 18 of them proved to be valid, a few had already been entered or were for other prizes. I lucked out, but I was ready to grab my cup of change and head for the vending machine if I came up a few caps short. Why the rush? The contest only had a limited number of copies, and they were dropping by about a hundred per day. As of Friday afternoon, there were only 250 copies of the game available, so I had to hurry if I wanted to make sure that I received one. It's a good thing I did, as they're all gone now. I placed my order, and my copy should be in my hands in 10 to 12 weeks...
I picked up a new desk at Target today. I wanted something with a lot of workspace on it, for my scanner, printer, etc. I found a neat one that actually swings out into an L shape, so I can close it up if I have guests staying in my second bedroom. My girlfriend, Holly, did most of the brain-work putting it together, I supplied the brawn, and she didn't even get mad when I kept running off to the living room to watch the Vikings game...
And speaking of football, ISU is 4-0 for the first time in 20 years! I don't expect them to emerge victorious from their meeting next weekend with Nebraska, but there's always a chance...
